Axel works mostly on film photograph, the view he is offering to the spectator is about different way how to understand the presentation and representation of landscapes.

We can notice landscapes pretty similares with often the same kind of light really soft, it’s like a really fine filter is covering it making this vintage impression, or like a picture from the past. This filter softens the moment makes it nostalgic. Landscapes with diluted molten colors which tend towards abstraction. Colors refer to memories, at twilight at sunset.

Maybe the intention is not about showing an overview but to propose a representation, to link with the own Axel’s view. So we can interrogate the place of a dream in his work, his photograph sometimes seem blurry like a dream, Also he notices the name of city where he took the pictures but at the end it’s not really important, we realize he is doing consciously/unconsciously a certain unity of his pictures.

We can’t really recognize any city, he gets ride of all information which constitutes the city’s identity, and the point maybe he became a new city a new landscape, the Axel ’s view or maybe a desire to create a typical landscape. In these landscapes we can see elements which stand out in a recurring way like the trees which return to the origin to the balance. There is this poesy between the landscape’s recognition and the fact than we don’t know where we are. At the end the photograph create a sort of hybride work between no man’s land and thoroughfare.

We can perceive at some point a duality chime with the meaning and the form : silent landscape, suspension, speed ( blurry picture) green landscape, industrial… Duality call the reality into question and open the pipe dreams.
As we can claim before, topics are mainly about nature also about an certain interest for industrial, that make again a tension.

The symbolism and The Romantic art influence can be considered, the symbolic landscape show an interiority awarding to the photograph. The nature, the ruins, the taste for solitude, the desire to flee, the journey and the dream can be topics mentioned in the Axel’s pictures as in Romantic painting.

Also the mysticism can be strong because the spatio temporal’s information are missing. Maybe is more about sensation than perception. The esthetic production is close to the visual sensibility. The image stolen over time keeps a taste for the anecdote.
